Absolutely true! Thank you! To be quite fair on him(?), he's still young as far as Bearded Dragons go and may have some development as the months go on.
We'll attempt a "candle light" tonight. If I manage to snap a successful pic (Hugo is the squirmy type when it comes to tail touching) I'll...
@xp29 Thank you!
I genuinely believe we may have a female on our hands, now that we're approaching Hugo's "one year since purchase" mark. He's much smaller than most males I've interacted with and docile as a stuffed toy. Loves, I mean LOVES getting neck scratches.
I worry about the need for...
Hey everyone! Long story short, about a year ago we purchased a juvenile Bearded Dragon on a whim (I know, I know) and I found this site after digging a little deeper into proper Beardie Care. Thanks to everyone for the help! Our little Hugo is now very big and usually relaxed with some spicy...
Thank you very much @Drache613! It's good to hear positive feedback concerning his looks :)
An update for anyone curious: He started his shed and is doing great!
*this post was pulled from daily updates and placed here for help*
Hugo's been eating incredibly well and I've been droplet watering him on the nose as well as misting him in the mornings - which he genuinely seems to enjoy. I've also been gutloading his crickets, feeding him a variety of dubia...
A thread chronicling Hugo's journey (and mine) Because I take hundreds of pictures and need to put them somewhere!
After TONS of help from other users, I got his new UV bulb set up this morning and he was in love with it. Had to shuffle a few things around in his starter tank so he could get...
@KarrieRee - The lamp is essentially the entire length of his starter tank so I'll most likely cut the mesh or cut the entire lid to size. I'll pick him up a lower basking stone and move his hide to the cool zone of his tank so he's got the appropriate distance from bulb to stone. TYVM!
@xp29 -...
@KarrieRee - as previously mentioned, I picked up his brand spanking new UVB bulb kit today. The mail is taking a bit longer on delivering my digital probe thermometers. Distance from the screen covering his tank to his basking rock is just about 10 in.
It honestly saddens me how much misinformation I've received from the few people I know in RL that own/previously owned Bearded Dragons, apparently this is one those things 😓 To date I've been told by two separate people to only feed him insects once every other day, which led me here.
As for...
Genius idea about recycling the veg, hadn't thought of that - Thank you!
Really can't thank you (both) enough for the input and help, I'll be able to sleep at night now :)
I'm leaning towards the Arcadia Reptile ProT5 kit based off reviews and longevity, ordering it for pickup tomorrow evening. Will I need to purchase the Reptisun 10.0 bulb for this kit or is the 12% that comes with it fine for use?
P.S. He has pooped! YAY! Hugo also let me hand feed him a few...
Currently I have some tunes playing and he seems to like it, he's gaping at random and this is the first I've seen him on the tree limb. His original container had a climbing wall which he seemed to like, I'll probably be adding that back into his upgraded tank. Might get him another stick for...
Please do! Any and all links are welcome <3 I've attached some pics of him from the moment I arrived home (6/5/2023 appx 5:30pm est), these give a bit of a view on his strip that I'm using for the interm.
Is this a long tube fixture or a coil?
- It's a coil and definitely not what I intend on keeping, I'll be upgrading him to a long tube fixture ASAP.
His diet should be 80% insects 20% salads...
-This is what I was expecting to hear and I'm ready to jump on a more vigorous feeding schedule to...
