thanks for the reply i am using reptile carpet i have three of them to alternate with in order to keep them clean should i cover the bottom half of the glass with cloth inside the tank?

I had the same problems withmy carpet so I went to the craft store and bought some Velcro with adhesive on the other side and placed it on the bottom of my tank it holds the carpet in place and no more going under the carpet

So I got a lamp stand for 22 bucks and I lowered the lamp about 5 inch now the basking spot is at 105°f he should be more than happy now right?
