Hi all! I got my BD, Puff about a yr ago from a breeder not to far from where i live. The Northwestern Berks reptile show is coming back around in a few months and i really would like to get another one! I obviously need a female because i dont want any BD baby's running around just yet
My question is how do i introduce em to each other? i want them to be buddies and be able to share the same tank. I know im going to have to search for a dragon that's about her size because i dont want her thinking a baby is food. Another ?? i have is do i need to keep em seperated until i get the new one to the vet for a clean bill of health? thanks again!!
I would not advise putting 2 together unless they started off together, but thats me. I would split it in half with a see through screen in between them. After a few weeks if they get use to each other then remove the mid way point
I would not keep two beardies together. Some people who get beardies that are clutch mates and have been together since birth have said that they are so used to being together that they can get stressed when you remove one of them. Although I have read threads on here about clutch mates that have been kept together happily suddenly turning on each other ending in an amputated tail, etc. Introducing a new beardie into the tank of one that has been there for a year can spell trouble. Beardies can be territorial and she may attack regardless of the size of the other beardie. Dragons are solitary creatures and even though they seem to enjoy our company they do not crave the attentions of another dragon except during mating season.
Its not recomended to house 2 beardies together. Yes they say females can handle it better than anyother combo. But there can still be accidents why chance it?
