Hi all, I just have a quick question. I am going to be taking a long weekend vacation (a Thursday night to a Monday afternoon) I have a friend that can check on my beardie, Rohan, Friday afternoon and then again on Sunday afternoon, but Saturday I don't have anyone to change the light and check on food and water. How should I go about leaving my beardie? I feel like such a horrible person but I dont want to put Rohan through the stress of traveling (to my parents' place) and then back to my place. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Well not sure about "changing" the light but most people use timers for the lighting, and as long as the dragon is a more than a few months old he should be fine, if only for a few days. The older they are the easier they can deal with a few days on their own.
I agree with Jeff. Definitely see about getting a timer for your lights. As Jeff said if it's not a baby one day would be fine. I would suggest either you or your friend maybe giving your beardie a good soak in water to keep him hydrated over the weekend. Then make sure your friend feeds him lots of food on friday.
following on OP post. I usually make sure there are no crickets left in the cage at night--do you guess on how many they might eat and hope for the best? We are going away Fri night-Sunday late afternoon in April (baby will be about 5 months old then I think). My mom will take care of coming over in AM and PM to feed .

I was wondering if it was a good idea to leave mine alone for 2 days. As long as I have my timer set up and enough food and water in there she will be fine from what I am gathering. I too feel bad about leaving her as well. I just can have her running up my Grammas electric bill...LOL! She runs 2 lamps and a night one. Just one lamp at one time was bad enough over x-mas. (she needed a new light-had to wait for pay day) But I am glad to see I can leave her for that long and not worry.
