Beardies in College

Hi, I am thinking about getting a bearded dragon and one of my biggest issues is college. My parents have specifically stated that they do not want me to bring it my freshman year. Does anyone have any idea about what to do with them while I would be away? I do have a younger sibling but they’re too young currently for me to judge what personality they might have as they get older and whether I could trust them or not. My parents also do not want to take care of it themselves. Not sure if I have any other options though, thoughts?

Make sure pets are allowed, if you live in a dorm especially. If pets are allowed, i would take him petsonally (i don't trust ANYONE to take care of mine the way i do lol)

I wouldn’t be able to bring him anyway though the first year, although for later years definitely!
You need to find someone reliable to take care of him then - and I would be doing monthly inspections on the dragon- or there is always a option of rehoming him... if you cannot find someone to take him for a year - dragons are one to hide their illnesses and in one years time the dragon can go down hill pretty quickly so its best to have the best basking surface temps taken w/a digital probe thermometer and a good UVB long tube fixture NO coils - and the bulb would need to be changed out every 10-11 months - that is the best way to keep a dragon healthy along w/ good diet -

If I was a father and my son in college wanted to buy a bearded dragon, I would not be very happy either. They probably think that you will completely digress from college and will only devote time to her. I have the same and I can say that the parents were right. I was recently asked to write a literature review, I found an article where it was written look at more info and took all the information from there. I really thought that nothing would change in my life. How wrong I ended up wrong. I really can't live without it. I spend too much time and my energy.
Parents can be understood on the one hand.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
