Chuck:My Life Story(pics updated 4-20-2010)

I figured instead of making many different daily threads of Chucks daily activities, I'd try to keep it to one centralized thread.

Today marks day 5 of Chucks new home and owners. The father of the house is the primary care taker but the mother has quickly jumped on board with looking up information on Chuck and his species. Though she still can't bring herself to touch him, she's very happy to watch him when he does his base jumping and glass dancing. There are two young females in the house as well. One appears to be a child but not too big and not too small. She's probably 7 or 8. The last female and member of the family is by far the smallest in this community. She often bangs on the glass in short intervals and rests her forehead against mine. We'll often spend times taking turns cocking our heads back and forth at each other.

My first day to the new home and I ate a large amount of super worms. I'd almost say it was the first time I'd ever had such deliciousness. I ate NINE of these bad boys in the course of 10 hours. The following day I ate a salad and a few worms. Since then I've been picky and haven't eaten nearly as much. Today I ate two super worms that the father put in front of me. One dropped on to his leg and I made sure it didn't go anywhere else! I'ma good guard dragon.. well I was at least. I didn't catch any more that dropped after that. Instead I wanted to sit on the arm of the sofa couch and just rest and watch everyone while they were doing their nightly duties. It's getting late for me as well. I've been tired ever since I had my sunbath this afternoon. Yep! A sunbath! I get one of these every afternoon around 2pm after the father picks the older child up from school. She'll sit above me and watch ... making sure I don't actually jump out. I do jump quite high and fast, for the record!

Some of my scales are beginning to turn white(ish) and I may be deciding to shed soon. We'll see though. The father took a tape measure out today while I was sprawled out on the sofa arm. From tip of tail to tip of the snout I measured in at 20" ! I'm only 9 months old. they should have named me Tank or Sherman, but I guess Chuck will do. I mean, there was that Chuck Norris guy. I hear he was a total bad... well yea you get the idea!

It's almost lights out for me, so I'm going to find my hidey hole and get comfy tonight.

Please tune in and see what happens tomorrow.. or maybe even the next day!

Here's a few pics from this afternoon.

I decided I'd act hungry today and chowed down on NINE fatty super worms. They were coated with this white stuff, but whatever. They were delicious. I think I'll still pretend to be starved though just so they tank me out of the tank more. The pops got me at 20.5 inches today but I made sure to move a few times when he was taking photos. I might let him get an accurate photo when I hit 24". The pops got some good photos of me today though, I gotta admit, I'm one devilishly handsome fellow! Watch outs ladies, I got a mean head bob. Some of those photos don't do me justice though. I'm starting to shed and you can catch it in a few of them. My colors will be POPPIN once I finish this ordeal, and like I said, "WATCH OUT LADIES. RAWR!" Well, without further ado, here are some photos:

Thank you for the compliments everyone. Right now, the parental units have me out running around the floor while the child units are sleeping. I must say, it's nice to have a little foot room outside my domicile for once. I've found a lot of the childrens toys and even fought with one of the plushies for a bit before realizing it wasn't fighting back. I'm currently roaming around and getting the various scents. For the record, lint is very hard to get off your nose, so be careful with tongue flicking at it! I've shed more off my face today and there are some orange blends with the yellow. I guess that's why they call me a bloody peach! Im food striking today so looks like I'm going back to my tank. Was fun while it lasted!

Hello and welcome Chuck! Seems to me your on the right track with those humans of yours. They'll be perfect slaves in no time flat. And those little two legged walkers aren't all that bad. Just a word of advice though. Your servants are still new at this so cut them a little slack for a little while as they trail and error at guessing your likes and dislikes. Good luck to you in their traning, we know it can be tough at times but eventually they'll get it with time and patience!

So I continue to hold out on eating regular meals. I ate 1 super worm yesterday and 4 bites of greens today. The pops placed a piece of green on my snout and I was determined not to eat it. In fact, I sat for over an hour and a half with that green piece on my snout without moving or touching it. I finally got tired of it and tilted my head down and watched it fall. I eyed it for a bit but then went back to basking. My mouth is continuing to shed. We got some fairly decent sized pieces off yesterday during my bath.

here's a pic of me and my resistance to eat that which I should!

Hi Chuck--this is Kiera here...viewtopic.php?f=49&t=120344...
now--you must eat for your slaves...you are looking a little on the skinny side, but very handsome!!! and you want to be a plump beardie. My mama calls me her dumpling because I am plump. Tell them you just might like some dubia roaches...they are big and meaty and you look big enough to handle them. Of course, if you are picky about your eating, you will get your human beardie slaves trained a little quicker because they will start offering you all kinds of different things to get you to eat...so that may be a good strategy after all.
other than that, it does sound like you are doing a good job training them...just don't give in to all their whims and wishes right away, or they will get complacent and not work as hard to please and serve you. Now...about the child units...they are pretty ok. We have one of them at my house...he is my mom's grandsondragon...he is really cool...especially when he has these fits where he lays down on the floor screaming and kicking...mom calls it the terrible twos. Anyway, he is convinced I am a baby dinosaur and he calls me "baby Aladar". I think that is pretty cute. Hey do you have any of them four legged dragons with string on them at your house? They make a funny sound that says "Woof". We have one at my house...her name is Roxy and she has long string all over her body. She is a "sheesh you" dragon...sounds like a sneeze, doesn't it? (translated by Kiera's mom to Shih Tzu)
Anyway--keep up the good work on training the parental units, and soon they will be your slaves forever!!!
It's nice to meet you, Chuck...welcome to the board!!!

Your home sounds like my home, Kiera! Thanks for the kind words. I'm a bit underweight maybe, but you'd never guess it with the amount I'm running around and how fast i sprint across the floor when the parental units take me out and let me have free roam. I think I've got them trained pretty well. I held off on pooping for two days because they wouldn't give me a bath. I didn't eat those two days either even with salads and worms in my tank! But man, i tell you when the pops took me out for my sunbath today, I perched my front legs on my rock, threw my back legs in the water and let them float and dropped one of the biggest #2's I've let go of yet! (Ok, my wife was :puke: when she saw this as she was walking in from an errand.. it was hilarious) After my customary bath poo, I began jumping at the side of the tub to signal I was done, and they took me inside. Later in the afternoon I managed to get the pops to hand feed me more or less once I was out of the tank and had free roam. he'd throw the supers in front of me a few inches away and I would let them get some distance before running after them and snapping em in half. I ended up eating 6 well dusted worms and got a good workout to boot! I just crawled up to my favorite perch and am basking now as I type this. In fact, the heat feels so good I think I may catch some shuteye. Take ca......zzzzzZZZZzzzz

Chuck--Way to go on training the parental units!!!! You gotta keep after them to keep them in tip top beardie slave shape!!!!! You keep eating them worms for them, and try to get them to get you some of them dubia roaches....you will do fine putting on the weight. Looks like you found yourself some good parental units!!!! Hang on to them!!!!
Hugs-Kiera

So I continue to go on my hunger strikes and my bowel movements as well, since they don't come as often when I'm not eating much. I ate a nice sized dish of mustard greens and kale this morning and had a good bowel movement shortly after eating and running around my tank some. Looks like I really prefer mustard greens over collards by far. Publix better not be out of stock of them anymore! Pops ordered a reptisun bulb from petmountain a few weeks ago, when he first brought me home since he picked up the reptiglo by mistake at the reptile show. He's turned the bulb off over the last few days as he thought I was being to lazy and lethargic.I'd just sit under my heat bulb all day long. Today I feel, or at least act, like I'm back to my former self. Still waiting on the delivery from petmountain though! Seems their shipping is slow. I'm gonna have to write a letter myself here soon to them with my dulled claws (thanks granite rock!) if I don't hear something from them soon. I've got a mean head bob and I am not afraid to use it, I repeat I am NOT afraid to use it. I make Pirate Blackbeard shake in his boots, arrr!

___

So home-life has been a wreck the last week with both kids being sick and wife sick as well. Here's hoping this next week the whole family (that's you too chuck!) start coming around back to their normal selves.

Chuck--you do need to eat for the parental units from time to time...even more often than that...it makes them feel good and it makes them feel like you do really like them...it also keeps them spoiling you, as they think..."aha!! he likes this...what else can I do now to make him happy!?" So, in the long run, it pays to give in to them every so often!!! Don't worry, you will get all of this stuff figured out about how to manage the parents...but seriously, please eat some for them.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
