"Lethargic" Beardie

No need to move to Health - trust me.

So I walk by Tiki's house and she's flat. Head down, pathetic, barely moving, eyes half open. Kind of freaked me out, so I got her out.

THE SECOND she got out, she was super tall and proud dragon, bright open eyes, running and scampering and licking everything in sight. Sat her on the open window sill with lots of sun streaming in - she turns black and becomes happy. Take her off to cuddle - scampering some more, running and playing.

Did she psych me out, playing on my soft side??? I know she wasn't sick, because there is NO WAY that behaviour could've changed so drastically in five seconds.

Instead of glass dancing to get out, have any of your dragons looked utterly pathetic to get out?

Now she's demolishing a salad.... /sigh.....

Hahaha omg I hope my beardie never learns this trick, he already does everything he can to get out of his viv! Yesterday he turned super dark grey on me and of course I panicked and picked him up and started loving on him, it's as if he looked at me like, GOTCHA and tore out across the couch towards the window, already turning his normal colors! We're such suckers!

Don't worry about the dark colours

Should you have the proper UVB setup, when a dragon needs to absorb more UVB rays, their skin will change colours to be much darker to absorb them.

Think of it as you being outside on a super hot day. Would you rather wear white or black? Being human, and a mammal, you'll wear white - if you wore black, you'd be much hotter. We aren't reptiles, so we wear white - they change to very dark colours (Tiki turns a lovely charcoal) to get the UVB they need

Ah thanks for the info, he rarely ever turns dark colors so when I saw how grey he was yesterday I just knew he was mad or in some kind of pain but the way he acted when I got him out I just assumed he wanted out. I didn't know that about the UVB. He has a reptisun 10 tube so I'm sure he's fine, he's just a bit of spoiled brat, I think :wink:

He was just soaking up the UVB So no need to worry.
